The successful candidate for this position will be a 1099 contractor with Music Ministry International and be responsible for the following:
The Department of Veterans Affairs, Veterans Health Administration, Rocky Mountain VA Medical Center (RMRVAMC), located at 1700 N. Wheeling Street, Aurora, CO, requires a base-year contract with four one-year options. The Clergyperson must be local to the Metro Denver area and will provide Protestant/Christian clergy services on a call-back/on-call basis, adhering to the terms and conditions set by the ECHCS VA Health Care System (VA ECHCS). Services will be scheduled according to an agreement between the Clergyperson and the VA staff. The Clergyperson must maintain a flexible work schedule and is expected to respond within 48 hours.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Provide a one-hour Sunday devotional Protestant [Christian] service with a sermon and service based on the liturgical season according to the Lutheran Lectionary. The service is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. each Sunday.
- Provide initial visits to newly admitted patients and pre-surgery visits to the seriously ill and those in designated patient care areas, using the information provided by the Chaplain Integrated Clinical Community and document in CPRS and Event Capture.
- Provide bedside visits as requested/needed by patients.
- Counsel Veterans and Veteran families for general spiritual issues as well as for Grief, Loss, PTSD, Substance Abuse, and Moral injury.
- Consult with professional staff regarding the total welfare of any patient.
- On-duty time and services are to be recorded in a log in the Chaplaincy Office when services are provided or within 24 hours thereafter.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Candidates must submit an ecclesiastical endorsement that is dated within the last 12 months. This endorsement must come from the official national endorsing authority of their faith group or denomination. The faith group must be listed on the official Ecclesiastical Endorsing Organizations list maintained by The National VA Chaplain Service.
- Education—Candidates must possess a Master of Divinity degree, normally based upon completion of three years of graduate study or equivalent educational qualifications.
- The Clergyperson position is decentralized; the Medical Center Director must approve the proposed Clergyperson. In an emergency, the VA can accept the employment application/resume and a declaration that the Clergyperson is in good and regular standing with his/her denomination.
SPECIAL CONTRACT REQUIREMENTS:
- SERVICE: In a time of need or emergency, as determined by the VA, the local clergy Clergyperson agrees to provide services to meet and fulfill the needs of the Veteran and to be available for call-back as necessitated by the needs of the VA. Mutually acceptable modifications shall be attached to this contract. The practices of the VA Chaplain Integrated Clinical Community will guide the Clergyperson.
- TERM OF CONTRACT: This contract, when accepted by the local clergy and the VA Contracting Officer, shall be effective from the date of its execution for a period of one (1) base year with the option to extend for (4) option years.
- WORK HOURS: The services covered by this contract shall be furnished by the local clergy Clergyperson as defined herein. The local Clergyperson will not be required to provide such services on a national holiday or during non-working hours except in case of an emergency or special request mutually agreed upon. However, this policy does not absolve the local clergy Clergyperson from providing services on religious holidays, even if such holidays coincide with national holidays.
