The successful candidate for this position will be a 1099 contractor with Music Ministry International and be responsible for the following:

Catholic Youth Ministry Coordinator, Community Chapel

1 The Catholic Youth Ministry Coordinator shall plan, coordinate and carry out a comprehensive Roman Catholic Religious Education program for high school and college age youth. The Youth Ministry Coordinator consults and coordinates with the Catholic Chaplain and will provide high quality Catholic youth programming according to AMS standards and deliverables described in as confirmed by the Catholic Chaplain or assigned priest.

2 Qualifications. The Catholic Youth Ministry Coordinator shall:

This is not an entry level position. Prefer individual with 3 to 5 years of experience in a military chapel or large Catholic Parish. Bachelor’s Degree preferred.

2.1 Meet or exceed all educational expectations by the AMS for leading Catholic Youth Ministry.

2.2 Have a letter of good standing from the candidate’s local officiating priest – this letter must be furnished with initial submission of the candidate’s recommendation. At a minimum the letter must state the individual is in good standing with the Catholic Church and has received the sacraments of initiation. The letter shall be no older than six months from the start of the base period of contract performance by the candidate.

2.3 Be able to create and manage an organizational budget.

2.4 Have the ability to work cooperatively with chapel staff, volunteers, and members of other faith groups for ecumenical, combined, and inter-faith youth activities.

3 Duties and Responsibilities. The Catholic Youth Ministry Coordinator shall:

3.1 Be responsible for recruiting, training and assisting all volunteers for Catholic youth programs.

3.2 Maintain a monthly schedule of youth activities, coordinate funds, event, and facility requests with prior approval from the Catholic Chaplain.

3.3 Consult with the Catholic Chaplain, develop and submit an annual calendar of youth fellowship events to the Catholic Chaplain.

3.4 Coordinate regular meetings as required by the Catholic Chaplain to provide information on upcoming youth activity needs, concerns and plans.

3.5 Plan and coordinate special events and projects for Catholic Youth as approved by the

Catholic Chaplain. Submit and file an After-Action Report or AAR for future reference.

3.6 Work cooperatively with chapel staff, volunteers, and members of other faith groups for ecumenical, combined, and inter-faith youth activities.

3.7 Ensure personal attendance at all Catholic and chapel requirements to include any regular meetings, trainings, and program attendance as required by the lead faith group chaplain. Attend all scheduled CPAC meetings and Catholic staff meetings as directed by the lead faith group chaplain. Attend chapel staff meetings if directed by the Wing Chaplain.

3.8 The Community Chapel will provide access to a printer, copier, expendable office supplies, and other items the Catholic Chaplain identifies as necessary to perform services described in this JOB DESCRIPTION.

3.9 Submit Chapel Tithes and Offerings (CTOF) and Appropriate Funds (APF) budget requirements/inputs prior to 1 May for the following fiscal year budget.

3.10 Identify and coordinate CTOF or APF budget requests to support the Catholic Youth Program to the Catholic chaplain. Purchase items IAW local operating instructions once the request has been coordinated, vetted, signed, and approved.

3.11 Publicize youth activities by suspense dates and get approval from the Catholic Chaplain before bulletins, newsletters, posters, and other publications are distributed.

3.12 Arrive NLT 30 minutes prior to scheduled youth activities.

3.13 Open and secure the chapel building and other facilities used for youth activities when

Chapel support staff is not on duty. Coordinate with the facility manager on availability and scheduling.

3.14 Coordinate, plan and attend retreats and/or mission trips for the youth. Retreats may be funded by CTOF or Gift Funds, to include food, lodging, and transportation per DAFI 52-105. Consult with Catholic Chaplain and/or CTOF Account Manager on the frugal use of funds.

3.15 Coordinator must maintain all applicable certifications associated with this position.

3.16 Plan a minimum of one youth activity per week during the academic year and two multiday events (camps, conferences, mission trip, etc.) during the summer break in consultation with the Catholic Chaplain.

3.17 Provide, in writing, an annual review of the program each May by providing a summary of activities, trends, and progress from the preceding year. Include information and suggestions regarding future program direction.

3.18 Conduct parent meetings to advise parents about the youth ministry programs, goals and needs. Encourage parents to be active participants in the youth ministry program.

Educate parents in the phases that their youth may be going through and things to watch for in their spiritual development as necessary or requested.

3.19 Provide written AAR on all special events and retreats to include suggested changes of direction, trends, and problem areas within one week of completion of the event to the designated chaplain.

3.20 Recruit volunteers from the chapel services or wider community to assist in the conduct of the program.

3.21 Maintain a current comprehensive list of all Catholic RE volunteers in the youth program to include roles, training and hours volunteered.

3.22 Procure a Government issued driver’s license to drive a Government Operated Vehicle (GOV) from the Logistics Readiness Squadron so that base transportation can be used for youth activities.
