The successful candidate for this position will be a 1099 contractor with Music Ministry International and be responsible for the following:

BACKGROUND:

Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune was established in September 1941 and is the home of the “Expeditionary Forces in Readiness”. As a component of the base the Command Chaplain’s Office has the mission to develop personnel and families of operating forces and the Camp Lejeune community for spiritual and personal readiness, through ministries, pastoral care, and the provision for and facilitation of the free exercise of religion.

2. QUALIFICATIONS:

2.1. Possess an Associate's Degree or higher or have more than 4 years experience as a Catholic Coordinator of Religious Education or Religious Educator.

2.2. Have minimum 1 year experience working with children and young adults.

2.3. Experience working with or attending a military chapel in the community is favorable.

2.4. Shall be sensitive to religious pluralism and be able to work with diverse religious beliefs.

2.5. Shall have the ability to supervise, train, and mentor volunteers. 

3. DESCRIPTION OF SERVICE:

The CRE shall provide Catholic Coordinator of Religious Education (CCRE) and Single Marines Program services necessary to support the Catholic Religious Education Program and the missions and responsibilities of the Command Religious Program. The services shall include, but are not limited to:

3.1. Pursue new approaches to religious education and methods consistent with the cultural and educational environment of the Marine and Navy communities. The CRE shall advise the Catholic Chaplain on programs, methods, and their usage that are necessary to meet or improve the religious educational needs of families and single active duty service members of the Camp Lejeune Catholic community. The final choice of materials will be determined by the Catholic Chaplain.

3.2. Design, prepare and coordinate the curriculum calendar of classes, academic and religious events observed throughout the calendar year. The CRE shall prepare and maintain a schedule depicting the dates, times, and places for classes, workshops, teachers meetings, and parent conferences.

3.3. Prepare timely and on-going publicity of Catholic Religious Education Programs and events through memoranda, bulletins and other available media.

3.4. Provide continuous teacher recruitment, training, and leadership development to ensure adequate volunteer, staff and competence of personnel.

3.5. Supervise religious educational instruction and studies of approximately 500 students from preschool through high school age. As well as coordinate and supervise all workshops, teachers' meetings, and parent’s conferences throughout the year.

3.6. Monitor the receipt, distribution, and utilization of all religious education materials and supplies. Account for expenditures within budget requirement for Catholic educational programs, to include curriculum materials, audio-visual aids, equipment, and other supplies for classrooms and office.

3.7. The weekly hourly requirement for this position is 22 hours, and the anticipated duration per the government's requirement is up to 3 years.
