The successful candidate will be a 1099 contractor with Music Ministry International and be responsible for leading the Contemporary Protestant Community in Worship at Luke AFB.

  • GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF SERVICES: The primary form of worship is a blend of Contemporary and Gospel style music which is an essential element of this Protestant worship The Contemporary Gospel musician provides the necessary musical support for the Contemporary Gospel Service at Luke AFB.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, and OTHER SIGNIFICANT REQUIREMENTS:

  • A Bachelor of Arts /Science Degree in Music is preferred but not required.
  • Must be able to read music in order to direct and teach the choir/praise team and musician to maximize their abilities and enhance the worship experience.
  • Vocal ability required to teach and/or accompany the choir/praise team. Accompaniment ability with piano/keyboard or guitar is desired but not required.
  • Must be familiar with the contemporary and Gospel worship styles and possess the ability to blend them into a harmonious worship experience.
  • A letter of recommendation from an ordained clergy person attesting to the applicants musical ability/experience and character is required as part of the application package.
  • Provide two additional letters of recommendation attesting to the applicant's moral and ethical character consistent with the Christian faith to honor the sensibilities of worshiping community.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Contractor shall provide accompaniment at all regularly scheduled worship services, choir rehearsals and additional services as requested by the Contract Officer or CGS Chaplain, including, but not limited to, special chapel functions and special worship
  • Work closely with other choir chapel choir directors and musicians and pastoral team to ensure proper coordination of all chapel programing to include occasional combined services.
  • Follow 56 FW Chapel policies and/or Wing Chaplain Directives for use and care of buildings and
  • The Contractor is to coordinate all support requirements with the Contract Officer, CGS Chaplain, or a designated representative.
  • The Contractor is accountable for security and cleanliness of all facilities utilized in conjunction with their programs. Ensure, after each rehearsal, the choir area used is returned to its original condition (i.e. books either returned to the rack or stored neatly away, microphones, cords, and stands put away, papers from music and bulletins removed, etc.) and that the facilities are properly secured and locked upon departure. For each weekend worship service, ensure the choir/practice area used is neat and returned to its original condition.
  • All foreseen absences are to be coordinated in advance with the CGS Chaplain and suitable replacement provided.
  • Contractor shall be responsible for all coordination, organization, preparation, and performance of choir and congregational music selections as required to support the Contemporary Gospel Worship Service.
  • Contractor will be responsible to produce PowerPoint slides each week. Slides will be submitted to the CGS Chaplain or audio-visual team at a predetermined weekly deadline.
  • Contractor will ensure all Christian Copyright Licensing International (CCLI) policies are followed to include quarterly reporting to CCLI.
  • Contractor shall be required to be present at least 30-minutes prior to the start of each service or event.
  • Contractor shall assist the CGS Chaplain in coordinating guest musicians/groups who perform at Chapel-sponsored events or services.
  • Any performance requests of the choir and/or musician to perform in the local community as representatives of Luke AFB Chapel MUST be approved by the CGS Chaplain and Wing Chaplain before they can accept the invitation.
  • HOURS/UNITS of WORK: Contractor services will be provided during Sunday worship services, normally two hours in length (.5 hrs. before, 1 hr. for service, .5 hrs. after). Practice sessions/rehearsals will be held prior to each service each week on Wednesdays at 5:30 pm or, with the approval of the Contract Officer or CGS Special services, and practices/rehearsals for special services, are in addition to the normal weekly work units. Units are defined as a session, which is a minimum of an hour but not to exceed two hours, providing up to 128 events each year.
