1. The successful candidate for this position will be a 1099 contractor with Music Ministry International and be responsible for the following:
2.A. Background: The Department of Veterans Affairs Long Beach Healthcare System (VALBHS) has a requirement to provide live musician performance support for Spiritual Care Services located on the 2nd Floor at the VALBHS.
2.B. Scope. The purpose of this contract is to have the musician provide 2 Pianist and 2 Soloists on Sundays & Holy Days. Individuals to provide live music (piano, organ, soloist) for worship services and other special religious/spiritual activities.
2.C. Specific Tasks: Task 1 – Provision of Musicians for Live Performance in Spiritual Activities
2.D. Schedule: See Section 2.H.
2.E. Specific Requirements:
2.E.1. Musician shall provide musicians who can perform on the VALBHS campus. VALBHS will not be responsible for any costs associated with transport to and from the work area (Chapel).
2.E.2. The musician shall also be responsible for ensuring musicians arrive in time to perform musical prelude (10 minutes) and postlude (10 minutes) before and after worship services.
2.E.3. All musicians provided must be able to take direction from the presiding Chaplain.
2.E.4. VALBHS Chapel will provide a Piano, microphone, and speaker system for use by musicians, any other equipment or musical instruments required shall be provided by the musician/musician
2.F.1. For Protestant musicians, the ability to expertly play/sing/lead the congregation in singing of traditional and contemporary Christian music.
2.F.2. For Catholic musicians, the ability to expertly play/sing/lead the congregation in singing of the music that is incorporated into the Catholic Mass.
2.F.3. 5 years minimum of experience for both the pianist and the soloist positions.
2.G. Performance Monitoring.
2.G.1. VALBHS Chaplains will monitor the arrival/departure times for Chapel musicians and certify services provided were of acceptable quality
2.G.2. The COR will maintain a file of the information provided by Chapel staff and will address discrepancies with the vendor and/or Contracting Officer as appropriate.
2.H. Work Hours: The Musician assign one musician to each of the schedules as follows:
1 Soloist, Sundays 9:00 – 10:00 AM & Holy Days. (Catholic)
1 Pianist, Sundays 9:00 – 10:00 AM & Holy Days. (Catholic)
1 Soloist, Sundays 10:15 – 11:15AM & Holy Days. (Protestant)
1 Pianist, Sundays 10:15 - 11:15 & Holy Days. (Protestant)
