The successful candidate for this position will be a 1099 contractor with Music Ministry International and be responsible for the following:
1.0 SCOPE OF WORK
1.1 The music director shall direct all aspects of music ministry associated with the Langley AFB 1100 Protestant Gospel Worship Service in conjunction with the Deputy Wing Chaplain or designee.
2.0 HOURS/UNITS OF WORK
2.1 Music director services will be provided during the weekly Sunday 1100 Gospel Worship Service, the 10 special services (to be approved by Deputy Wing Chaplain or designee beforehand), and respective rehearsals for each service.
2.2 Each event below shall be billed as one unit for a total of 124 units.

3.0 MUSIC DIRECTOR GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
3.1 Music director shall perform for all regularly scheduled Gospel Services, choir rehearsals, and special services as determined by the Wing Chaplain. Special services will include the annual Christmas Eve candlelight service, combined worship services, funerals, and other holiday services.
3.2 Music director shall coordinate with other service music directors, musicians, and chaplains as necessary. Rehearsal times will be coordinated with the Gospel Service lead chaplain.
3.3 Music director shall follow 633 ABW/HC operating instructions for use and care of buildings and equipment.
3.4 Music director is to coordinate all support requirements with the Deputy Wing Chaplain or designee.
3.4 The Music director will personally perform the services described herein or
secure performance by a submusic director of equal or higher proficiency who has been approved in advance by the Chaplain. The music director is to submit the names and qualifications of the proposed submusic director. Approval is to be sought at least fourteen (14) days prior to the absence. Submusic directors must meet the requirements of the position outlined in the Statement of Work (SOW). The Coordinator is responsible for payment of the submusic director.
3.5 The Music director is responsible for paying any Social Security payments, Federal or local income taxes, and State unemployment insurance premiums for themselves, as well as for any individual employed or subcontracted by them to provide services under this contract.
4.0 MUSIC DIRECTOR SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES. Music director shall:
4.1 Work closely with other choir directors, musicians, and chaplains to maintain an up to date music library.
4.2 Prepare/conduct rehearsals for instrumentalists and singers for each service.
4.3 Lead congregational and choral singing and provide instrumental accompaniment for all Gospel services and special services as determined by the Wing Chaplain.
4.4 Ensure security, proper use, and cleanliness of all facilities and equipment utilized in conjunction with duties and programs of the Gospel choir.
4.5 Maintain communication with choir members, instrumentalists, and the Gospel service lead chaplain.
4.6 Demonstrate integrity through a moral, upright lifestyle consistent with Christian church teachings.
5.0 EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND OTHER SIGNIFICANT QUALIFICATIONS:
5.1 The ability to read music and lead a choir and congregation, while providing accompaniment on piano or organ/keyboard.
5.2 Must have Gospel choir experience and be familiar with the flow of Gospel Service worship.
5.3 Must provide a letter of recommendation from an ordained clergy person and two additional letters or recommendation attesting to the applicant’s Christian character.
5.4 Must have a minimum of five years’ experience playing the piano and organ or keyboard.
5.5 Must be able to play and lead music from various Christian traditions including traditional, contemporary, and praise and worship.
5.6 Must have a minimum of two years’ experience directing church choirs in traditional hymns, Gospel, and current contemporary Christian music.
