The successful candidate for this position will be a 1099 contractor with Music Ministry International and be responsible for the following:
10.0 Religious Position and Title. Catholic Service Music Coordinator
10.1 Scope of Responsibilities. The Music Coordinator shall provide, under the supervision of the service Chaplain, direction of the Catholic music program to include direction of congregational singing, choir/band recruitment, rehearsal, performance, and special music presentations.
10.2 Education and Experience Requirement. The Music Coordinator must: 10.2.1 Be an accomplished musician with solo and accompaniment experience in a range of music styles and traditions that include classical and traditional music. Experience in church music, education, and background in vocal and instrumental music instruction, and Catholic liturgical music is desirable.
10.2.2 Have 2 years of experience leading Catholic style worship music including experience with recruiting, instructing and conducting volunteer vocalists.
10.2.3 Have experience providing musical ministry under direction and oversight of a presiding Chaplain or hired/contracted Priest and coordinating music with long and short term pastoral ministry goals.
10.2.4 Furnish resume including academic and work related references (i.e. military chapels, churches).
10.3 General Responsibilities. The Music Coordinator shall: 10.3.1 Coordinate with the service Chaplain for the selection of proper music for the week's services to ensure that selections of music and musicians are appropriate to the theme, season of the church year, and/or purpose of each service.
10.3.2 Provide piano, organ and/or keyboard accompaniment for the Catholic service, lead the parish singing, and provide special music through performance or coordinating guest performers.
10.3.3 Be able to work cooperatively in an interfaith setting with chaplains, staff and parishioners of varied and diverse religious backgrounds.
10.3.4 Recruit volunteers (vocalist and musicians).
10.3.5 Participates in interview process for potential coordinator-assigned musicians and provides input to the service Chaplain.
10.4 Specific Responsibilities. The Music Coordinator shall:
10.4.1 Conduct rehearsals and performances preferably in an F. E. Warren Chapel facility except when authorized by the service Chaplain or the Deputy/Wing Chaplain and agreed upon by all service band/choir members.
10.4.2 Lead a rehearsal each week in advance of a scheduled performance. Rehearsals will last at least one (1) hour, but no more than two (2) hours, and include the Catholic Service Musician and volunteer band/choir members.
10.4.3 Lead and attend weekly performances for the Catholic service. Performance will last at least one (1) hour, but no more than two (2) hours. This unit shall include a 15-minute pre-service warm-up session no later than 0845 or time designated by the service Chaplain. The warm up is not a unit for pay.
10.4.4 Ensure that all set up (printed materials, stands, sound equipment, instruments, multimedia presentations, etc.) are completed at least 15 minutes before the start of each rehearsal and service. Ensure that all slides, music and video using copyright protected music are clearly marked with the Chapel's Church Copyright License (CCLI) number.
10.4.5 Wear attire appropriate for a family worship event while performing units.
10.4.6 Setup and take down and store all necessary items rehearsals and performances. Ensure that the areas used will be properly secured upon completion of rehearsals and performances. Ensure that the areas used will be properly secured upon completion of the worship service.
10.4.7 Inform the service Chaplain if the instruments need tuning or repair.
10.4.8 Submit any request for music orders through the service Chaplain.
10.4.9 Coordinate with the service Chaplain for special services (e.g., Christmas Eve or funeral) before performing at the special services. Primary focus of this position is to provide music for the Catholic Service. Priority of resources (personnel- and Chapel- owned equipment) shall be to the worship service. The Music Director will receive notice of a special event performance no less than 30 days in advance and will have right of refusal for short-notice events (e.g., memorial service music). Such events will constitute one (1) unit of performance.
10.4.10 Process F. E. Warren AFB Chapel Facility Request form (local form) to schedule the use of chapel facilities for all Catholic music activities within the facilities. Ensure that all facilities used are properly maintained and secured upon departure.
