The successful candidate for this position will be a 1099 contractor with Music Ministry International and be responsible for the following:
1. DESCRIPTION OF SERVICES
1.1 Scope of Responsibilities:
1.1.1. Shall be able to commit a minimum 20 hours per week at the chapel to accomplish position requirements. Flex hours are authorized for this position.
1.1.2 There will be activities such as VBS (Vacation Bible School) when you shall train all Directors/Leaders/Leaders in Training/Helpers in the specific Protestant faith tradition and make sure all over the age of 18 have completed an IRC (background paperwork) required by the Chapel to work with children.
1.1.3. This position requires recruiting and training of volunteers and weekly communication with volunteer leaders. Provide services for up to 200 youth.
1.2. Period of Performance/Place of Performance
1.2.1. This requirement calls for support at Edwards Air Force Base, California. The Period of Performance in the contract is anticipated from 22 September 2019 - 21 September 2024.
1.3 The coordinator must participate in safety training and update skills as needed.
1.4 Qualifications: The Youth Director shall:
1.4.1. Have a minimum of two (2) years’ experience in leading a youth program and shall have taught at least two years in a youth program/classroom.
1.4.2. Furnish a resume including work related references.
1.4.3. Hold a Bachelor's Degree or equivalent; preference will be given to education or ministry degrees.
1.4.4. Possess at least three (3) years of experience in Religious Education. Strong preference will be given to experience in military chapels.
1.4.5. Be proficient in written and spoken English communication.
1.4.6. Have a working knowledge of and theological grasp of Protestant youth programs and military- related programs.
1.4.7. Maintain ethical standards equivalent to the Uniform Code of Military Justice and shall work in accordance with the chaplain requirements.
1.4.8. Maintain a good rapport with the congregation and be discreet in character and someone who will maintain absolute privacy and confidentiality for any issues either seen or heard.
1.4.6. Arrive in a modest, professional business like appearance suitable for a chapel environment. Contractor clothing shall be clean, neat, wrinkle free, properly worn and in good taste for a chapel environment.
1.4.7. Subject to background check.
2. Duties and Responsibilities. The Youth Director shall:
2.1 Plan and lead all youth events: Fall Festival, Bible quizzes and Bible games, and end of Year Award Ceremonies by having required volunteers, funds requests, facility requests and paperwork/forms for each event.
2.3 Ensure that all rooms and equipment have been properly set-up and put away. The Youth Director is accountable for security and cleanliness of all facilities utilized in conjunction with their programs.
2.4 Coordinate facility requests for programs as needed with the chapel staff. Training will be provided on site as needed.
2.5 Ensure all copyright, reproduction and license agreements/laws are abided by at all times.
2.6 Recruit volunteers along with the Service Chaplain to enhance youth program effectiveness and quality.
2.7 Ensure the completion of statistical attendance records as required for programs and submit them monthly to the chaplain in charge of the program and the appropriate chaplain assistant.
2.8 Develop an annual program calendar and budget projections.
2.9 Use and maintain a program checklist for all major youth programs to ensure youth programs are planned and executed in an orderly and professional manner.
2.10 Advertise youth programs. Develop pamphlets, tri-folds, posters, announcements and other appropriate advertising media for all youth programs. Review advertisement media at least monthly checking for accuracy and currency. All advertisements should be completed and distributed a minimum of 3 weeks in advance. The Youth Director shall give all advertising media to the Parish Coordinator for distribution.
2.11 Monitor/track/properly maintain all funds spent by the Youth Program, to account for what is spent and ensure fund requests are completed in accordance with HC AFIs/OIs. Work closely with Chapel Tithes and Offerings (CTOF) account manager to ensure timely submission of funds requests to meet program plan and distribution/reimbursement of funds to program leaders.
2.12 Ensure all literature and supplies needed for programs are ordered in a timely manner (at least 3 weeks) after approval by appropriate chapel staff in the chain of command.
2.13 Adhere to the protocols and requirements of the religious education program that is authorized by the Wing Chaplain.
