The successful candidate for this position will be a 1099 contractor with Music Ministry International and be responsible for the following:

  • Contract Position Title. Protestant Parish Religious Education (RE) Coordinator
  • Scope of Responsibilities. Serves as administrator, advisor and coordinator of the Protestant Parish RE Program for the Kirtland Air Force Base Chapel. The Protestant Parish RE Coordinator provides and coordinates Kirtland AFB multigenerational Protestant RE programming and activities as requested by the Senior Protestant Chaplain and/or the Wing Chaplain. The Protestant RE program is designed to provide Christian nurture consistent with the Protestant faith tradition and in support of chapel ministry requirements.
  • 3.  Education and Experience Requirement. The Protestant Parish RE Coordinator must:     
    1. Have a minimum of a High School diploma or GED equivalent (documented evidence of the following is preferred: a degree in Education, religious studies, or related fields.)
    2. Undergo and pass required federal background check required to work with children/ teenagers.
    3. Have documented evidence of the following as a prerequisite: a minimum of three (3) years' experience teaching in public schools, private schools, or RE programs.
  • General Responsibilities. The Protestant Parish RE Coordinator will:
    1. Comply with all Federal, State, and Local Laws and requirements and Air Force Instructions that apply to this position.
    2. Comply with all Air Force Information security requirements. The Protestant Parish RE Coordinator is required to read and sign facility usage, security, key control, and safety letters.
    3. Perform the Protestant Parish RE Coordinator services at the chapel facility located at 1950 Second Street SE, Kirtland AFB.
    4. If awarded the contract, the contractor must submit applications for a background checks to the Background Check Monitor according to Department of Defense Instruction (DoDI 1402.5), Criminal History Background Checks, and pass. The following checks are required; Installation Records Check (IRC), State Criminal History Repository (SCHR) and Childcare  National Agency Check with Inquiries (CNACI).
    5. Ensure all volunteers working with youth below 18 years of age receive a background check as described in DoDI 1402.5
  • Specific Responsibilities. The Protestant Parish RE Coordinator will:
    1. Coordinate, plan, and implement a comprehensive, holistic Protestant RE program for pre­ school through high school.
    2. Perform work hours in accordance with the needs of the Protestant parish. The Contractor will also be required to maintain a schedule ofregular office hours as agreed to by the Senior Protestant Chaplain and published in the Protestant bulletin. The contractor will publish 8 hours of availability between Monday and Friday.
    3. Be present on Sunday from 30 minutes before RE classes until 30 minutes after classes for teacher or parental conferences.
    4. Be available to the chapel staff, parishioners, teachers, and students.
    5. Maintain the RE library of books, CDs, etc. for parish members to utilize for their spiritual growth.
    6. Plan RE programming and order required books and material. The contractor will maintain records of curriculum requested for purchase. The contractor will send anticipated budgetary requirements for overall program plan formulation to the Senior Protestant Chaplain by 1 June of the calendar year.
    7. Request RE equipment and supply purchases in a timely manner, at least 30 days prior to use.
    8. Submit RE equipment and supply purchases to the Senior Protestant Chaplain for approval prior to purchase.
    9. Fill out the AF Form 4356, CTOF Purchase Request Form, as trained by the Account Technician as needed for purchases. Submit request to the Senior Protestant Chaplain, or accounting technician allowing 10 days for processing.
    10. Coordinate and oversee Sunday RE classes and Children's Church.
    11. Recruit, recommend selection, train, motivate, and place volunteer teachers and aides in the
      RE program.
        Interview each new RE teacher to discuss qualifications, expectations and requirements of RE program and determine appropriate position based on needs of program and individual's abilities and desires.
    12. Provide initial teacher orientation at beginning of the RE year and provide adequate on­ going training to equip effective volunteers and to fulfill teacher/aide requirements of the chapel.
    13. Maintain classrooms, cabinets, AV equipment, and storage areas containing Protestant RE supplies/equipment and literature.
    14. Organize RE enrollment and provide registration dates, times, and places to Senior Protestant Chaplain a month before RE classes begin. A calendar of classes and holidays is to be presented to parents of students and teachers at the start of the RE program.
    15. Plan and conduct a teacher appreciation event annually-may be done in conjunction with the parish appreciation event.
    16. Attend the monthly Protestant Parish Council meeting and give a repo1i concerning pertinent RE issues.
    17. Submit requests for facility use, funds, equipment and other support according to chapel procedures.
    18. Serve as funds Project Officer as designated by the Senior Protestant Chaplain.  Track fund expenditures, and insure program does not exceed approved budget.
    19. Draft and design publicity submitting it to the Protestant Parish Coordinator for publication according to chapel procedures.
    20. Prepare certificates, awards, and presentations for students and volunteers.
    21. Maintain RE enrollment and attendance records and student emergency data which, must also be submitted to the Senior Protestant Chaplain at the end of each month.
