Protestant Contemporary Music Coordinator Leader

The successful candidate for this position will be a 1099 contractor with Music Ministry International and be responsible for the following:

1. Contract Position and Title. Protestant Contemporary Service Music Coordinator

2. Scope of Responsibilities. The Music coordinator shall provide, under the direction of the service Chaplain, directs the music program of the service to include direction of congregational singing, choir/band recruitment, rehearsal, performance, and special music presentations.

3. Education and Experience Requirement. The music coordinator must:

3.1. Be at least 18 years of age and hold a high school diploma.

3.2. Be an accomplished musician with solo and accompaniment experience in a broad range of music styles and traditions that include classical, contemporary, gospel, and traditional music. Experience in church music, education, and background in vocal and instrumental music instruction, hymnology, traditional religious music, and contemporary religious music is desirable.

3.3 Have 2 years of experience leading contemporary Protestant style worship (similar to Hill song and Vineyard style) music including experience with recruiting, instructing and conducting volunteer contemporary praise bands and vocalists.

3.4. Have experience providing musical ministry under direction and oversight of a presiding Pastor and/or Chaplain and coordinating music with long and short term pastoral ministry goals.

3.5. Furnish resume including academic and work related references (i.e. military chapels, churches).

3.6. Complete Installation Records Check.

4. General Responsibilities. The music coordinator shall:

4.1. The music coordinator will provide piano, organ and/or keyboard accompaniment for the Protestant Contemporary worship service, lead the congregation singing, and provide special music through performance or coordinating guest performers.

4.2. Be able to work cooperatively in an interfaith setting with chaplains, staff and parishioners of varied and diverse religious backgrounds.

4.3. Coordinate each week with the service Chaplain for the selection of proper music for the week's services to ensure that musical selections are appropriate to the theme, season of the church year, and/or purpose of each service.

4.4. Recruit volunteers for the Praise Team (vocalist and musicians).

5. Specific Responsibilities. The music coordinator shall:

5.1. Rehearsals and performances should preferably be held in an F. E. Warren Chapel facility except when authorized by the service Chaplain or the Wing Chaplain and agreed upon by all members.

5.2. Lead a rehearsal each week in advance of a scheduled performance. Rehearsals will last at least one (1) hour, but no more than two (2) hours.

5.3. Lead and attend weekly performances for the Protestant Contemporary worship service. Performance will last at least one (1) hour, but no more than two (2) hours. This unit shall include a 15-minute pre-service warm-up session no later than 1045 or time designated by the service Chaplain. The warm up is not a unit for pay.

5.4 Ensure that all set up (printed materials, stands, sound equipment, instruments, multimedia presentations, etc.) are completed at least 15 minutes before the start of each rehearsal and service. Ensure that all slides, music and video using copyright protected music are clearly marked with the Chapel's Church Copyright License (CCLI) number.

5.5. Wear attire appropriate for a family worship event while performing units.

5.6. Setup and take down and store all necessary items for their rehearsal and performances. The music coordinator will ensure that the areas used will be properly secured upon completion of rehearsals and performances. The music coordinator will ensure that the areas used will be properly secured upon completion of the worship service.

5.7. Inform the service Chaplain if the instruments need tuning or repaired.

5.8. Submit any request for music orders through the responsible service Chaplain in charge of the worship service.

5.9. Coordinate with the service Chaplain for special services (e.g., Christmas Eve) before performing at the special services. Music coordinator shall be given a 30-day notice before performing special services. Primary focus of this contract is to provide music for the ContemporaryWorship Service. Priority of resources (personnel and Chapel owned equipment) shall be to the worship service. Music coordinator will have right of refusal for short-notice events (e.g., memorial service music). Such events will constitute one unit of service.

5.10. Process F. E. Warren AFB Chapel Facility Request form (local form) to schedule the use of chapel facilities for all activities within the facilities. Ensure that all facilities used are properly maintained and secured upon departure.

5.11. The music coordinator must provide a qualified submusic coordinator when absent or otherwise unable to perform for the scheduled service and shall notify the service Chaplain one week in advance, with the exception of emergencies, of the name and the dates the submusic coordinator will perform. Sub-contracted work should not exceed 30 days during the period of the contract. With the exception of emergencies, only two weeks of the 30 days shall be during the school year. Music coordinator will supply name(s) and points of contact of submusic coordinator(s) to service Chaplain within one month of signing contract.

5.12. Be accountable for paying any Social Security payments, Federal or Local Income Taxes, and State Unemployment Insurance premiums for themselves, as well as any individual employed or subcontracted by them to provide services under this contract. Health care insurance will be the responsibility of the music coordinator and the Chaplain Corps will not be liable for any injury or accident associated with this service contract.

6. Government Provided Equipment.

6.1. Provides all music materials and instruments to the music coordinator at the performance location, which is to be used only at said location and other items deemed necessary to perform services described in this SOW.

6.2. The provided piano, organ and/or keyboard with accompanied music selections are for practices and peformances.

7. Period of Performance. The contract will be in effect for 12 months with four (12 month) option periods.

8. Payment. A rehearsal is equivalent to one (1) unit. There are 52 regular rehearsal units allotted during the 12 month period of the contract. Each performance is one (1) unit, and allotted 52 regular

performance units during the 12 month period of the contract. There are 10 special event units that can be used as either a special rehearsal or special performance during the 12 month period of the contract.
