The successful candidate for this position will be a 1099 contractor with Music Ministry International and be responsible for the following:
1. Contract Position Title: Catholic Coordinator of Religious Education (CRE)
2. Scope of Responsibilities: Serves as the resource person, advisor and coordinator of religious
education for the Wright-Patterson Air Force Base Catholic Parish. The coordinator consults and
coordinates with the Branch Chief, who in turn monitors the contract's work.
3. Qualifications: The Catholic CRE shall:
3.1. Possess current certification as a Catechist from a Roman Catholic diocese and have at least
two years of classroom experience as a catechist in a Parish School of Religion (PSR).
3.2. Have a Master’s degree in Education, teaching, or similar. Applicants with lessor or
equivalent experience shall be considered if no otherwise fully qualified individuals apply.
3.3. Be bilingual in English and Spanish. Applicants only proficient in English shall be
considered if no bilingual individuals apply.
3.4. Be able to work successfully within the pluralistic environment of the Air Force Chaplain
Corps.
3.5. Possess good people skills that enable him/her to work effectively and harmoniously with
others including: chaplains, chapel staff, volunteers, and parishioners.
3.6. Furnish a resume including academic and religious education work related experience along
with at least two letters professional reference (no relatives).
4. General Responsibilities. The Catholic CRE shall:
4.1. Assist the Catholic Pastor (GS Priest) and Catholic Director of Faith Formation by assuming
responsibility for all aspects of the operation of the Parish School of Religion (PSR). The PSR
consists of Grades Early Childhood through Grade 12 and an Adult Education Class as well as
Sacramental Preparation Programs for the sacraments of: Baptism (for un-baptized students),
Penance and Reconciliation, Eucharist, Confirmation, and Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults
(RCIA).
4.2. Meet regularly with the Catholic Pastor (GS Priest) to review the status and effectiveness of
the PSR Program.
4.3. Recruits, trains, nurtures, and leads volunteer staff to include: grade level coordinators,
catechists, and administrative staff members. The list of volunteers shall be approved by the GS
Priest or Branch Chief.
4.4. Maintain contact and positive relations with parents/guardians of students in the PSR.
4.5. Plan and execute annual registration of PSR students.
4.6. Prepare and submit proposed annual budget for the PSR to the Director of Faith Formation
in accordance with budget and policy directives.
4.7. Comply with all Federal, State, and Local Laws and requirements and Air Force Instructions
that apply to this position.
4.8. If awarded the contract, the coordinator shall submit an application for a background check to
the Branch Chief according to Department of Defense Instruction (DoDI 1402.5), Criminal
History Background Check.
4.9. Ensure volunteers working with youth below 18 years of age receive a background check as
described in DoDI 1402.5. Background check documents shall be routed through the Branch
Chief and/or designated Chapel staff member for processing.
5. Specific Responsibilities: The Catholic CRE shall:
5.1. Establish and publicize regular office hours.
5.2. Prepare PSR Funds and Facility Requests in accordance with Air Force and Chaplain Corps
policy and directives, and submits them to the Director of Faith Formation.
5.3. Upon proper approval of Funds Requests, order and distribute all curriculum, equipment,
and supplies required to support the PSR. Funds Requests are to be submitted in a timely manner
according to AFI and Chapel policies.
5.4. Schedule and facilitate PSR Staff Meetings.
5.5. Ensure evaluation of catechists is conducted either personally or through grade-level
coordinators. Provide feed-back to catechists.
5.6. The coordinator shall personally perform the services described above or coordinate
performance by a substitute of equal or higher proficiency who has been approved in advance by
the Branch Chief. Submit the names and qualifications of proposed sub-coordinators to the Branch
Chief for approval at least 14 days prior to the proposed absence. Sub-coordinators shall meet the
requirements for the position as outlined in this Statement of Work (SOW).

Candidates who are not certified as a catechist or who do not possess at least three years of performing steadily as a Roman Catholic Coordinator in a Parish School of religion need not apply. This is a part-time position with compensation based on budget and the successful candidate’s experience and qualifications.
