The successful candidate for this position will be a 1099 contractor with Music Ministry International and be responsible for the following:

1. Place of Performance

The services  shall be performed at the McGuire Chapel (building 2503), Dix Chapel (building 5240), Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst, NJ 08641 or at the designated location where Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst Chapel ministries are performed.

2. Background Check

a. All personnel under this contract must complete a positive background investigation.

3. Period of Performance and
Work Hours

In the event of inclement weather, musician will refer to 609-754-BASE and Chapel personnel, and in
particular, the Catholic Chaplain, for base closure information and/or procedures.

Work Hours

a. A minimum of one regularly scheduled Sunday Mass performance per week and one regularly scheduled rehearsal per week. Rehearsals shall be coordinated with the Catholic Chaplain or his designee, and the Catholic Choir Director.

b. In addition to the regularly scheduled performance/rehearsal per week, occasional special event services, memorials/funerals, Christmas and Easter seasonal services, pageants and plays, and Holy Days of Obligations may be required between Monday-Friday. Any and all special event rehearsals (minimum one special event rehearsal per special service) shall be approved by the Catholic Chaplain or his designate on a timely basis.

c. Rehearsals shall be a minimum of one hour in length.

d. Service provider shall arrive a minimum of 30 minutes prior to service start time.

4. Description/Duties & Responsibilities

a. The music accompanist shall provide the necessary support to facilitate worship music at the Sunday
Catholic Service.

b. Programming will heavily emphasize congregational music within the Catholic tradition, as directed by
the Catholic Chaplain. 

c. This position supports the worship component of the Catholic Community and Mission statements as identified by the Catholic Advisory Council and directed by the Catholic Chaplain. The Music Program will meet the needs of a Catholic Community.

d. The music program will be designed to provide appropriate music ministry within the Catholic worship
setting.

e. The Catholic Chaplain is solely responsible for all activities conducted during worship, including
music. The accompanist shall not deviate from programmed activities without the approval of the Catholic Chaplain.

f. The nature of the work requires active participation in the Catholic community at Joint Base
McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst.

5. Specific tasks:

a. Accompanies all worship music at the rehearsal and at the Catholic Worship Services, Joint Base
McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst chapels, as instructed by the Catholic Chaplain.

b. Observes all safety and security requirements at the designated facility.

c. Monitors chapel musical instruments.  Advises the Catholic Chaplain of the service of any needed repair, preventative maintenance, or replacement.

d. Ensure that chapel equipment used outside the chapel facility for chapel sponsored programs has prior approval by the Joint Base Senior chaplain, is signed out on the appropriate AF Form 1297, temporary issue receipt, and proper resource protection measures are taken for the period the equipment is outside the chapel.

e. Request logistical support when needed via the Catholic Chaplain or his designate using established AF and chapel policies and procedures.

f. The musician shall ensure that all facilities are properly secured at the conclusion of each rehearsal or
service, when a chaplain or Chapel Service Support Personnel are not present.

g. Provide choir support for military and civilian community events as part of Catholic outreach as directed
by the Catholic Chaplain.

h. Musician shall not engage in the unauthorized duplication of copyrighted materials by photocopying or any other means that would expose the government to liability for penalties under existing or future copyright laws.

i. While in the performance of their duties, musician shall wear appropriate professional business attire. Shall present a neat and clean image.

6. Qualifications

The service provider shall provide documentation of the following:

a. A minimum of three years-experience leading a catholic choir with accompaniment on keyboard/piano/organ for comprehensive catholic worship service requirements. 

b. Ability to demonstrate rhythmic accuracy, music sensitivity, and overall appreciation of liturgical aesthetics.

c. Familiarity with the catholic faith as practiced in the catholic tradition.

d. Demonstrate effective communication skills with a variety of age groups, to include children, within the pluralistic environment of the Chaplain Corps.

****In addition to the above documentation, submit two letters of reference supporting the above qualifications.

An under-graduate degree in music is preferred, but not mandatory.
